Joule Studio is SAP's no-code and low-code development environment for building custom Joule Agents. It lets business analysts and IT teams define an agent's goal, connect it to the relevant SAP data and processes, and configure its multi-step actions without writing ABAP or other backend code.

Out of the box, SAP ships pre-built agents for common scenarios: cash management, invoice disputes, payroll processing, and more. Joule Studio exists for everything those pre-built agents don't cover. A procurement team with a spend-approval workflow that's specific to their contracts, for example, can define that logic as a custom agent instead of waiting for SAP to ship one or commissioning a custom ABAP build.

The tradeoff is that a custom agent is only as reliable as the data and processes it reads from. Joule Studio doesn't fix a messy master data set or a process that varies by region; it just gives you a faster way to wire an agent to whatever exists underneath. Teams building in Joule Studio on top of an uneven data foundation tend to get agents that work in demos and misbehave in production.
